So I finished few times of listening to FKA twigs' 3rd studio album "Eusexua" inspired by the Prague rave scene.
“Eusexua is a state of being. A feeling of momentary transcendence often evoked by art, music, sex, and unity. Eusexua can be followed by a state of bliss and feelings of limitless possibility”
FKA twigs has teased her new album since last autumn and pre-released the title song "Eusexua", "Perfect Stranger", and "Drums of Death".
All the songs on the album have their distinctive own vibe. FKA twig's style hasn't completely changed. Her voice is so beautiful and trancendental. My favorite song is probably "Drums of Death". "Girl Feels Good" reminds me of Madonna's Ray of Light, but the lyrics weren't to my taste."Childlike Things" is a fun song although I was first hesitant by the fact that the Kardashian daughter North West was featured in the song.
But unfortunately the album was not as experimental as I thought. It actually is the most easily listenable album of hers I think. It was not as techno inspired as was marketed. I have to say I was a little dissapointed. I was promised raves, dark rooms, freedom, euphoria, - and that's what the visuals and lyrics were about but the feeling didn't quite reach me. I wonder if it's because I'm too desensitized and can't feel myself be as open and vulnerable as she is in her lyrics. There is kinkiness like in "24hr dog" but it's so sensual it isn't really my style.
I don't mean that I don't like it - I do, but it didn't live up to my high expectations. I will definetely come back to this album.
